The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I thought Dorian Gray was typical of 19th C writing: a plot as a vehicle for a philosophy and, especially in British novels of the time, a thinly veiled reinforcement of social stratification.
I did think it was interesting but having read other novels of the time period I expected it to contain more of the gothic/sublime/supernatural than it did. Overall I am glad to have read it.
